For many memoirists, their family's ethnicity and culture are sources of great pride and rich stories. Other memoirs may feel disconnected from their ethnic origins. Everyone has a distinct culture that they exist in. The idea of culture can mean something that is larger than your ethnicity, since people from many different ethnic groups can be a part of one culture. A culture includes ways of talking and dressing. It includes the morals, values, common goals and space that people share. Prisons, churches, temples, neighborhoods, clubs and societies and even schools have a culture and it can best be described by the people who are a part of it!
Where do you come from? Do you feel a close tie with your family's ethnic background?
What culture are you a part of? Are you a part of more than one? Explain.
